Internet Distractions

I find it strange that while a number of businesses are trying to stop its employees from blogging or using instant messengers during work, that's not the case in my work place. Well, I work in the media (sort of) and so far, blogs and instant messengers have been great tools of finding out information. I mean instead of calling up the person to verify if something is true, just send them a message via your YM. Or if you're interested in finding out if something's happening, just check out the person's blog for updates. It's faster and more convenient for everybody.

Just goes to show that the Internet and its ilk are merely tools. It can be used to the detriment of the company, but it can also be harnessed for the company's benefit.
